Shy and skulking, the Eastern Nicator Nicator gularis is more often heard than seen and is definitely not the sort of bird that will sit out in the open for all to see and photograph. It is a fairly common species, but unless its loud and strident, jumbled calls alert you to its presence, it usually goes unnoticed in the habitat it frequents: lowland evergreen, coastal and riverine forest, thickets in miombo woodland, and mixed thornveld.
