CONGRATULATIONS!

Roger Hogg

Black Coucal, © Roger Hogg

Congratulations to the winner of our People’s Choice category, Roger Hogg, for his beautiful action shot of a Black Coucal. To view the Grand Prize winner, and all other category winners, please keep your eyes peeled on the main Photography Competition website here, in the coming days.

Roger wins a Canon PowerShot Zoom camera kit, valued at R4 500; plus a Struik Nature hamper worth R5 000, as does the lucky voter that was randomly drawn from all votes cast (not just votes for Roger’s photograph).

Please note the votes have been counted and authenticated by email with online software, and offline manually too. Voting for the People’s Choice category closed at 10h00 (SAST) on 22 July 2023. Both the People’s Choice winner and the Voting Prize winner will be contacted by email or mobile phone by the end of 22 July 2023.

Welcome to the BirdLife South Africa Photography Competition – Peoples’ Choice Award!

Please note this voting process determined the winner of the Peoples’ Choice category ONLY, and not the competition’s Grand Prize winner, or other category winners, which were decided by a panel of judges. For a list of all 10 prizes and categories, and to meet our judges, please click the button below:

We were blown away by the number of entries (and additional donations) received, and are very grateful to everyone who entered their images in support of our work to conserve South Africa’s magnificent birds and their habitats.

After carefully reviewing over 3000 photographs, we are pleased to display a shortlist of our top 200 photos below. Members of the public are now welcome to vote for their favourite image, and the image with the most votes as of 10h00 (SAST) on Saturday 22 July 2023 will be crowned the winner of the Peoples’ Choice category (not the Grand Prize category, or other categories, which are being decided by our panel of judges). Winners of all 10 categories and prizes will be announced at the African Bird Fair 2023. Both the Peoples’ Choice category winner and one lucky (randomly-drawn) voter will win a Canon PowerShot Zoom camera kit, valued at R4 500, plus a Struik Nature hamper worth R5 000.

So tell your friends and family to get voting!

PLEASE NOTE: Votes are limited to one vote per person, so take your time to browse through the exceptional images below and be sure to choose your favourite image wisely. When you vote you will be asked to enter your email address. This is so that BirdLife South Africa can randomly draw one lucky voter for the Voter’s Prize. We will not contact you further with newsletters or other BirdLife South Africa initiatives, unless we get your consent to add you to our mailing list, after this competition.
