Biological Exploration of far Northwest Zambia
The Far Northwest region of Zambia is a diverse area with a rich variety of flora and fauna. It is home to some of the tallest and wettest miombo woodlands in Africa, wide grassy plains, and thin strips of mushitu forest. A group of friends explored remote birding spots such as Mwinilunga, Nyasichala Forest, Source of the Zambezi, and the Mad Man’s Crossing using a combination of plane, car, and canoe. The area the closest spot to see several Congo-based species, including the highly sought-after Vermiculated Fishing Owl and African Shrike Flycatcher. The presentation will primarily focus on birds but will also touch on other forms of biodiversity. | |
