Below is a list of the books used in the compilation of this section, and ones we thought should be of interest to the birdwatcher out to broaden his/her knowledge of the field.

1. SASOL Birds of Southern Africa 3rd ed. - This best selling field guide is now in it's third edition and has been fully revised and updated. It is authored by Ian Sinclair, Phil Hockey and Warwick Tarboton. Read more..

2. Roberts' Birds of Southern Africa - 6th Edition - This all-time classic is the original Birds of Southern Africa. It was first published in 1940, and has undergone many revisions. It has more information than the fieldguides. The 7th Edition is due in 2004. Read more..
