Welcome to the SASOL Online Field Guide to the Birds of Southern Africa, which serves as an online adaption of the well-known book published by Struik. The primary purpose of this section is to help beginners and experienced birders alike in identifying bird species in Southern Africa. To this purpose, we have listed the 200 most common birds found in our region, with descriptions of their plumage, nest types, typical flight-patterns, etc.
