BirdLife South Africa Position Statements
BirdLife South Africa has developed a number of position statements to assist staff, bird clubs, council members and indeed all members, to align themselves with the organisation’s viewpoints on a range of important matters. These statements are intended to summarise and demonstrate a clear stance on specific viewpoints.
BirdLife South Africa has followed a similar strategy to that of BirdLife International in developing position statements on a variety of topics, all of which may have a significant impact on the four pillar strategic objectives for conserving: Species, Sites, Habitats and working with People.
Where possible these position statements are linked to BirdLife South Africa’s conservation targets. The position statements have been limited to those areas where BirdLife South Africa is able to make valid contributions to the conservation of birds and their habitats. Each statement has been developed with inputs from relevant experts, and submitted to the BirdLife South Africa Council for approval.
We would like to encourage bird clubs and members to download the position statements below
